Robert J. Vale, Jr., CEO
Vale is CEO of ClearStar, the background screening technology company that he founded
in partnership with Ken Dawson in 1995. In his role he is actively involved in developing
business strategy and has the opportunity to meet with clients and business partners
to help set and define direction for the industry.
Prior to forming ClearStar, Vale was the Manager of Loss Prevention Technical Support
for United Parcel Service. This group was responsible for all loss prevention, risk
mitigation and security-related system designs, development, implementation and
24/7 management of operational system for UPS worldwide. During his tenure, he worked
with the ATA and UPS airlines to develop their security standards.
A founding member of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners
(NAPBS), Vale is often called upon to deliver keynote presentations on the subject
of large scale systems management, technology trends and personal information security.
Vale has been a guest instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center
and has published numerous articles for security trade journals.
Vale is a graduate of State University of New York - Plattsburgh and served six
years in the United States Air Force as a Security Police - Security Specialist.
Vale lives in Cumming with his wife and three children where he enjoys playing disc
golf and is an active supporter of the Central Forsyth High School Marching Band.
Kenneth W. Dawson, Jr., CIO/CSO
Dawson is a founding member of ClearStar and currently serves as its Chief Information
Officer and Vice President. In this role, Dawson is responsible for evaluating,
designing and implementing reporting solutions that combine information from disparate
information sources in varied data formats into cohesive, consistent and richly
formatted reports.
Prior to forming ClearStar in 1995, Ken developed enterprise systems for United
Parcel Service and Kaiser Permanente. Dawson began his career in software development
and content delivery in 1990 while working as an intern for Conatec, Inc., an aerospace
engineering firm.
Dawson studied Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland and resides in
Conyers with his eight children where they are actively involved in their church.
Vale and Dawson founded ClearStar in 1995, as an Internet-based data provider,
geared towards addressing the emerging information needs of the security industry.
After constructing and implementing the largest security information community presence
on the Internet, the Security Information Management Online Network (SIMON), they
turned the company's focus to the public records industry and the development of an intranet-based
product to assist in the collection and dissemination of discrete public records.
