The Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for aligning the future state enterprise information architecture with the corporate strategy. This role collaborates with architects, and partners with subject matter experts from cross-functional Business and IT areas. This position collaborates with several Business and IT roles supporting data, analytics, and data integration work. This role collaborates with Business and IT leadership stakeholders to drive transformational efforts by aligning technology and data assets that service our client’s members in a seamless and integrated manner across all product lines. This role provides leadership and technical expertise in needs identification, data modeling, data movement and transformation mapping (source to target), automation and testing strategies, translating business needs into technical solutions with adherence to established data guidelines and approaches from an enterprise perspective. The Enterprise Data Architect will play a crucial role in setting the strategy, technical direction and driving the adoption of our next generation data platform. The Enterprise Data Architect must be comfortable driving technical ideas and communicating clearly with technical as well as non-technical audiences.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish collaborative, cross-functional relationships and communicating information and providing advice to drive enterprise data architecture decisions forward
  • Partner with business stakeholders, management, and teams to identify needs and guide the delivery of cost-effective, high-performance technology capabilities leveraging enterprise information architecture principles and core data assets
  • Support enterprise data architecture roadmap by managing architectural runway for enterprise data model, enterprise data store/warehouse, information management, and advanced data analytics capabilities
  • Provide data architecture thought leadership to cross-functional teams in the areas of advanced data techniques, including data modeling, data access, data integration, data visualization, data discovery, statistical methods, database design and implementation
  • Mapping information flows between ClearStar systems
  • Defining master(s) system(s) that contain source data that is consistently replicated across systems (e.g., customer information held in a CRM which feeds into all other systems)
  • Managing build of new architecture based on defined data master(s) (i.e., how systems will talk to each other based on which system is meant to hold which information). To do this, EDA will need to:
    • Work with third party contractors to revise architecture
    • Manage overall enterprise architecture build project
    • Define clear milestones for contractors and review progress against plan
  • De-duplicating data fields that are no longer needed with new architecture and building of full data taxonomy
  • Defining governance/processes for data updates across systems
  • Revising architecture as needed based on new systems integrations and M&A activities
  • Supporting tech due diligence processes during M&A activities
  • Ensuring systems are cost-effective and flexible
  • Additional duties as assigned

Desired Skills & Experiences:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in data architecture, during which both professional and management capabilities have been clearly demonstrated
  • Demonstrated leader capable of partnering/driving business and technology colleagues in establishing a highly functioning governance model
  • 5+ years’ experience with data platforms and technologies, including:
    • On-prem & Cloud Database Platforms – MS SQL Server, AWS RDS, Azure Databases
    • Data Warehouse Platforms
    • Modeling Tools
    • Information Delivery – PowerBI, Tableau, or similar BI tools
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong motivator and team player

Abilities, Computer Skills, Licenses, Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Language Ability:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, live person chat capabilities, order processing systems and database software.

Certificates & Licenses:

  • Previous experience with internet programs required. Certificates and Licenses preferred but not required.
