Despite the dramatic impact of Hurricane Irma on Florida, the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) Conference in Orlando went off without a hitch. We appreciate all of the hard work and perseverance that went into going “on with the show.” It was great to see such a massive turnout. The annual event is a must for anyone who wants to stay up-to-date on the latest information and innovations in background screening. As an industry thought leader, there’s no way we’d miss it.
Here are a couple of the highlights from the three-day conference:
Compliance – One of the hottest topics and biggest concerns is compliance, both inside and outside the United States. Compliance with the upcoming new European Union data protection framework, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), was a topic among background screeners involved in international screening. We were proud to speak on the upcoming change in this privacy legislation and the impact it will have on screeners.
Global Screening – We expected this to be a popular topic of discussion, and were more than prepared to address it. We presented as part of a team in a breakout presentation called, “Making the Global Candidate Screening Process Candidate Friendly.” Also, one of the subjects covered on our fun “45 RPM Global Records” giveaway was, “Answer Tough Questions With Confidence,” which covered our unique ability as a team of global experts to keep CRAs “in the know” when it comes to ever-changing search requirements and compliance. We appreciated those who took the time to bring their questions to us at the conference, and were more than happy to offer insight.
The best thing about the NAPBS Conference is having the opportunity to connect with others in our industry and exchange ideas that keep everyone learning and growing. It is especially rewarding to be at the forefront of this effort. No wonder, in the past year alone, ClearStar has provided background screening services to more than 20,000 companies.
