FTC Identity Theft Awareness Week Takes Place from January 30 to February 3, 2023

To focus on how identity theft affects people and ways to reduce the risk of identity theft, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) – America’s consumer protection agency – will mark its annual Identity Theft Awareness Week with a series of free events from Monday, January 30, 2023, to Friday, February 3, 2023, according to a press release from the FTC.

“Identity theft happens when someone uses personal or financial information – such as a Social Security number (SSN) or financial account information – without permission,” the press release states. The events of the 2023 Identity Theft Awareness Week will include webinars, podcasts, and other activities. Participants will hear from the FTC and the FTC’s partners.
