ClearStar Sponsors Free Webinar with Current Consulting Group on State Drug Testing Laws

ClearStar will sponsor a free webinar titled “Continuing the Discussion: A Deep Dive Into 5 More States’ Drug Testing Laws” co-hosted by President and Founding Partner Bill Current and Senior Legal Consultant Yvette Farnsworth Baker, Esq., from Current Consulting Group, LLC (CCG) on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time.

ClearStar and Current Consulting Group presented a webinar earlier in 2022 that looked at workplace drug testing in the five most populated states: California, New York, Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania. The webinar was so successful that they are sponsoring a webinar featuring the next five most populated states: Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, and Georgia.

The states featured in this webinar are especially interesting because it includes two states with voluntary drug testing laws, one state with an industry-specific drug testing law, and four states with legal marijuana laws that affect workplace drug testing. Current and Farnsworth Baker will cover in detail the legal status of drug testing for each of the five states. Topics will include:

  • Type of law: mandatory, voluntary, workers’ or unemployment comp regulations, or case law
  • Lab testing, including certification and confirmation testing
  • Point-of-care testing (POCT)
  • Testing methods: oral fluid, urine, hair, or others
  • Drug-test panel
  • Pre-employment & post-hire testing, including the legal status of random testing
  • Collection procedures, including split specimen, collector qualifications, and direct observations
  • Medical Review Officer (MRO) requirements
  • Legal marijuana and its impact on drug testing in each state

Current founded the Current Consulting Group in 1998 and it has become the number one recognized brand name in compliance, business development, and operations consulting in the drug testing industry. He created Current Compliance, the only comprehensive online subscription database on state workplace drug testing laws, and has authored several books.

Farnsworth Baker is Current Consulting Group’s Senior Legal Consultant and a licensed attorney and member of the bar in Florida. As an expert in drug and alcohol testing case law, she regularly consults on state law and federal regulation questions in addition to authoring articles for industry publications.
