Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Publishes Updated “A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act”

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has published an updated version of a document called “A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act” for both the English and Spanish versions in accordance with the Updated and Corrected Agency Contact Information Rule, according to a message on the CFPB website dated March 17, 2023.

The CFPB issued the Agency Contact Information rule and published it in the Federal Register to make non-substantive corrections and updates to CFPB and other Federal agency contact information found at certain locations in Regulation V that implements the FCRA including Federal agency contact information provided on “A Summary of Your Rights Unter the FCRA.”

This Agency Contact Information rule – which also makes various non-substantive changes to Regulation V – takes effect on April 19, 2023, but the mandatory compliance date for the amendments to Appendix K in Regulation V is March 20, 2024, according to the rule.
